Warning! Rant Coming...

With more and more newspapers laying off and closing down every day, you'd think that they would be doing everything they could to keep subscribers happy and buying their papers. I just re-subscribed the other day to our nearest big city paper because I like to be able to roll my news up, tuck it under my arm and take it into whatever waiting room or just waiting situation I happen to be going to. I haven't gotten into reading the news online because I come away feeling like I might have missed something, did I hit every page? Now for my rant... many months ago we got a new delivery person. It seems like every time we have a substantial rain, I have a soggy paper. Sunday I went out to get my paper at 9am, I found it laying in the middle of the now dry driveway, where I have asked them NOT to throw it several times over the past few months, in an open plastic bag and soggy to the point of almost being pulp. I papered my living room...
I have called and also used their online system to ask that they NOT throw the paper on the drive. When it rains, my drive fills with water. When they put the newspaper in a knotted plastic bag and throw it on the drive it skids on the sand which tears holes in it just big enough to allow the bag to fill with water. All they need to do is toss it on my lawn beside my drive! I am really getting tired of this. I am not naming the paper now, but I might later.

Rant over, but I'm calling them first thing in the morning.

That is an awesome picture that speaks volumes.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the paper laying in the driveway before I tore the plastic bag off it. I only thought about it later when I got ready to take this picture.

When you call the newspaper direct them to your blog so they can see how you couldn't read today's news until the pages dried out. If that doesn't work then I'd name them on your blog and see what happens from there. I don't think it unreasonable to throw the paper into the yard for the customer who's paying them good money to deliver. Glad to hear you knee is doing better. Hope you get to read your paper soon. Have a great day.

Michelle - When I called this morning, I told them about my blog post. Then I sent and email to them stating that I had already spoke to someone concerning this via the phone this morning, but I wanted them to read what I had written on my blog, then included the link. I haven't heard anything back yet and my stats don't show anyone from that area looking at the post. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Good rant good luck and great image, a picture is worth a thousand words, why they just can't deliver a newspaper properly is beyond me.

Hi, Bob! I'm beginning to wonder if the delivery person is actually getting correspondence from distribution.
