The Princess Plays Basketball Game 7

This was their last game of the season before tournament. They started out as always with a warm up. This is when we got the first glimpse of how competitive this game was going to be. Each team attempted to out shout the other during their count down warm ups.
The opposition was a little antsy on the jump ball...
...and the game was on, 'fast and furious'.
The more aggressive their girls got, the more aggressive our girls became.
Below was our first score. I didn't get shots of the scoreboard because I was not in a good angle to get the whole board.
Our girl makes a wall of herself, and she was really moving!
Below was an amazing shot, even though it was made by our opposition, it is blog worthy. It was the end of the 3rd quarter with seconds to go and she threw the ball!

EVERYONE Cheered!! As well they should for such a shot.

Below is a play that the Princess was a part of...
...passed to a teammate...
....and SCORE!

Our girls didn't win, but they had their moment to... Last few minutes of the game with everyone counting down.... 3... 2.... 1... buzzer.... the ball had been in the air and SCORE!

GREAT GAME GIRLS!!!
What a memorable way to end the season.

K-Monster's 6th Basketball Game

This game was yesterday, the 22nd and I actually made it there in time to tape the whole game. It started out with the visitors getting the first point and the action was pretty even, back and forth.
Both sides were fairly aggressive in their plays...
...and they were pretty equal in size distribution.
Twice during the game the floor was cleared for 'toxic waste' cleanup when a boy on the opposing team had a nose bleed. I don't know if he had been elbowed or just dry sinuses that are typical of this time of year.
The girls didn't have a game today so we had cheerleaders...
...and we saw a lot more of these, meetings with the coach, than we usually do, especially toward the end of the game.
Here K-Monster made his free shot, Way To Go, Monster!
At the beginning of the 4th quarter we were in the lead...
...but that turned around rather quickly and the game got quite exciting toward the end.
I think there was more 'time' in the last 11 seconds of the game that any other part of the game with at least 2 time outs being called.
The clock was stopped at 2 seconds and went into play and out again with the clock being stopped at 1 second. The opposing team threw the ball back in and made a shot and scored.
Great game, Boys! I saw some excellent team work, keep it up!

The Princess Plays Basketball Game 6

Yea! I'm caught up again! Here's the pictures from the Princess's Basketball game on the 17th. The started out with warm up and some pre-game coaching.
The girls get more aggressive each game, I think....
....and the first quarter ended with them in the lead.
The second quarter was a whole new game. The opposition put in other girls and our team saw a lot of shots like the one below. I don't know if it was the same girl every time, but it she managed to get the ball she'd quickly run to her end and throw the ball from the side making most if not all her shots.
Following are action shots featuring the Princess. First recovering a loose ball...
...the rest are of her blocking...
...which she's getting better at every game.

Here's the final score, with the score made in the first quarter being the only score they made.
Keep working at it girls, you improve every game you play.

K-Monster's 5th Basketball Game

These are pictures from K-Monster's game on the 12th. He's got another game tomorrow so I need to get these posted and his game DVD burned so I can get it to him.
We were late getting into the game again, though we left earlier, having been late to the previous home game.
The first quarter was ending just as we came in, again. I got some good action shots of the Monster.
This team had a definite advantage having mostly 8th graders who were a head taller than our mostly 7th grade team.
The Monster is center screen on this shot, though the real action is to the left.
I swear some of these boys have wings on their feet.
There was a lot of back and forth and solid effort on our boys part.
The Monster even got a foul shot...
...one of which he made.
But in the end they still aren't making their baskets.
Good effort though boys. If they gave out points for trying you might have scored better.

Moon, Sun and Sky

I managed to get a fairly decent picture of the 2009 Perigee full moon on Saturday the 10th. I love the colors of the sky in this picture and, unlike some of my pictures, I didn't do anything to it in photoshop other than rename it. I didn't even resize this one, so if you click on it to see it better, be forewarned, it's HUGE!
On the 13th my grandson called me from his mother's cell phone telling me to get my camera and go take a picture of the sun and clouds. Below is what I saw, and took a picture of. I haven't asked them what it was that they saw, they were about 30 minutes west of me, so I don't think we were seeing the same thing.
But about 30 minutes later I noticed the sky had gone red, so I went back out with my camera and got the picture below.
Of course, pictures never do these sunsets justice. : )

The Princess Plays Basketball Game 5

I'm a week behind in my postings. I've been busy trying to get some video editing done for Cardio Mike, my interruptions get interrupted. This was Princess granddaughter's basketball game on Saturday the 10th. On Monday the 12th I realized that I still had all these pictures (almost 400 total) were still on the card in my camera. So just before K-Monster's game I set the computer to transferring them from the card to my hard drive. It took over a half hour to transfer all of them. I don't usually take so many, but I had turned the setting to the preset for sports and it will take multiple shots if hold the button down. On several occasions I unintentionally took multiple shots. The game began with the girls warming up...
...and the coach getting them in a huddle for some coaching.
It was an aggressive game right from the start.
More than once there was a tug-o-war over possession of the ball...
...and more than once, girls ended up on the floor.
Our girls seemed to be more aggressive this game, both in getting possession of the ball and blocking.
Here's the Princess showing her blocking skills...
...and a ball recovery.
I just had to post the picture below to show the support out girls receive. This is the mother of our girl that was scoring for our team. See the ball about ready to go in the basket? The girl is visible just below her mother's elbow.
Our girls may not be winning the games, but they're ALL winners to us and it shows in the love and support they receive.
Good Game, Girls!
