Do You Believe in Ghosts?

All my life I can point out times when I've felt as if there were someone present when no one was there. Most all of us have felt that feeling of "being watched" and not seeing anyone watching. At my house we have a presence in the stairwell. I can't tell you how many times I've walked by the stairwell and had to go back to look because I could have sworn that someone had been coming up the stairs. My adult son says that the stairwell still gives him the creeps because he feels like someone is trying to spook him. I told him it appears they're doing a pretty good job.
.
A favorite poem of mine is...
As I was going up the stair
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away.

There have been specific incidents in this house that I can not explain. One happened years ago when all the children were in school. I was home alone with my dog, it was a clear fall day. I had no radios or TVs on and all the windows were closed. I heard the distinct sound of a couple of men talking. I walked to the front door and looked out the window on the door. The voices sounded as if they were below me, as if they may have been coming from the basement. I know that I was not hearing things because at the same time I heard them, my dog cocked her head as if listening in the same direction as I thought the voices were coming from. I immediately thought that maybe one of the children had left a radio on, so I went downstairs to look. No radio on, no TV on, I walked all around the house looking out windows and no one to be seen anywhere. That was the first experience (other than the presence in the stairwell). The second experience was when my youngest was in High School and he was fixing up our attic. He had raised the roof, took the bow out of it, braced it up and was flooring it so we could use it for storage. My brother-in-law and his wife came up from Texas for a visit and he ended up helping in the attic. My s-i-l and I were sitting in the kitchen catching up on family news when she and I heard a male voice call my name. I stopped what I was doing and immediately went to the attic entrance to find out what my b-i-l needed (my son wouldn't have called me by name). Neither one of them had any idea what I was talking about. They had not called me. I have not had any bad experiences with the spirits living in my house.

What do you think?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that poem, because those people were in my moms house, too... You've seen my ghost blog, and the pictures, right?

I can't explain the presence of spirits in relation to the bible, and God's plan, but there is something there... I know there is...

When my brother-in-law was killed in a freak accident (on 9/11/01 no less -- unrelated to the attacks), my sister, myself and others were preparing for his funeral. At different points during our preparations that morning, the TV's volume shot up when no one was there, and then the bathroom lights flickered. It may sound scary, but it gave my sister great comfort to think that her husband was "with her." That's how we all took it. It was a peaceful intervention of sorts. I'll always remember it.

Hi! Of course I believe in Ghosts. We had one called the grey nun at a hospital I used to work at. She would roam the old wards at night checking on patients. She was a friendly and helpful ghost!
