Small Town Snapshot Sunday #7

Wendy at On the Front Porch hosts Small Town Snapshot Sunday. Check out the other participating bloggers on Wendy's blog, then join us and post one of your own!

On the way home from the grocery store the sign below caught my eye.
So you don't have to strain your eyes, here's a close up photo of the sign and a link to more information about winning the horse.
Could you see the horse way in the back of the first picture? I drove to the back of the yard to get a better picture and she walked over to the fence...

She grazed for a while...
...but soon got bored with me, since I didn't even get out of the car, and walked away.
I have always wanted a horse, and now my granddaughters talk of wanting horses, but we have nowhere to keep one. Nor do we have the money to properly care for one either. But one can dream. :)

That horse is gorgeous. I grew up on a farm where we had two horses. I loved riding Lucky. She wasn't so excitable like Shaker. Still I enjoyed them more than I realized at the time. I miss them now. Have a great day.

I'm a city girl, but we've had friends and family on farms and ranches so I wasn't totally deprived of the country life. I've had some memorable horseback rides, one in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. :)

She's a beautiful girl. I hope whoever wins her takes good care of her!!

I just came inside from spending some time in the pasture, taking pics of our horses, the cows next door, sunflowers, Ringo our lab, etc. I can deal with 88 degrees -- but last week when it was in the 100s, no way!!

She's a beauty. I admire horses, but I've never been good with them. Every time I've been on one I've either fallen off of it or been thrown off!

Thanks for participating in STSS! :)

OG - I had a dog named Ringo. He was a collie/shepherd mix. He kind of looked like a coyote if you saw him at a distance. Wonderful dog, smart as a whip. I put him through obedience training and we won 1st place at the end of it. It has been a nice reprieve from the hot weather.

Wendy - I feel your pain. In my youth I tried to jump on a half broke horse from the coral fence and my butt barely landed on the his back and I was in the air and on the ground. Fortunately I was quick and small then and was able to roll under the fence without getting stomped on. Another time the small horse I was on bolted through a gate that had the latch down. I saw it and was swinging my leg over when it caught my inside thigh. I wasn't bleeding so I got back on the horse and reigned it in and got it under control. I got chewed out by my friend's mother for not coming in and putting ice on my leg when it happened. My whole inner thigh was black and blue. :)
