See all the grass tossed from the garden onto the lawn? A lot of these are huge clumps of grass, that's why I needed the shovel to extract it rather than a hoe.
Just look at the other side of the garden below. This is what it looked like before I started on it. The tall grass around the edge has flowers growing in it, which makes cleaning out the grass that much harder.
Here's another pile of grass that I had pulled from my walkways. I failed to put newspaper down this year in my haste and now I'm paying for it.
I am NOW putting down newspaper before putting my boards back down. See the flower plants around the edge?
There are flowers in the tall grass below also.
A lot of the grass below is in my walkways, that won't be too difficult to clean up, but my back doesn't like the bending over and my knees don't like squatting down. That's why I only do so much each morning.
Below is what I managed to get done this morning. I lucked out and rain clouds moved in and cooled things off so I could work longer. There was a brief rain, very brief, and I was able to go back and work some more. Compare the picture below to the third picture above.

Your garden looks really nice. You've worked really hard on cleaning it up.
Those doves are precious. Especially that last picture. Hope all is well.
Michelle - I was out in the garden again this morning, still have about half of it to clean up. My compost bin is almost full from all the grass, guess I'm just going to have to stack the rest of it somewhere.
I think I need to find somewhere to do a painting of the doves. Print the silhouette out on cardstock and cut it out to make a stencil.
