Crazy Times

Just a quick post to let you know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. It's been crazy around here for the past week and last night was the topper. My daughter and sil were in a car accident in Wichita. She had just called me to find out how many of her two boys were at my house. Seems like less than a half hour later sil called to say they'd been in a horrible accident. It was a drunk driver and sil avoided a head on collision but ended up getting hit just to the back of the passenger door, crumpling the rear....

He says that if there had been a child in the back seat the outcome would probably have been grim....

Daughter went to the hospital and was thoroughly checked over, inside and out. She has a fractured rib, a couple punctures and bruises, but they released her to come home. She's off work for a week, but all's well.

Hi! I hope your daughter is recovering well. I've had a fractured rib from an car accident and I know how painful it can be.

Thank heavens for morphine tablets, drivers airbags, front seat passenger airbags, side airbags and side intrusion beams. Where would we be without them!

Take care,
Peter

Daughter and sil both doing well, she was really tired the day after. She had a difficult time sleeping. But otherwise, healing well.

Her comment was that she is a firm believer in airbags and seatbelt.

I'm so glad she wasn't hurt too badly although a broken rib certainly isn't anything to sneeze at. I always wear my seatbelt after having smacked into the steering wheel in an accident many years ago.

We all wear our seatbelts nowadays. I remember when I was little we laid about anywhere in the car, including the back window. Now, my son's littlest would through an absolute FIT if you tried to take off without fastening her in.

Scary!

My son throws a fit if Rick or I forget to buckle up... Probably a good thing!

Hope everyone is ok!

That is one nasty wreck, I sure hope your daughter feels better soon, and that drunk driver gets put in jail where all drunk drivers belong.

Anita - it's rather 'funny' (not the Ha-ha kind) because I remember kids throwing fits when you tried to buckle them in. What a change a few years can make.

bobbi - The last we saw of the drunk, the police had him, hauling him off with him saying, "I didn't do anything."

I am very sorry to hear of your daughter's accident and hope that she is recovering quickly.
My only daughter still at home is a teenager. As often as I can, I show examples of why she should be wearing her seatbelt or why drinking and driving is a terrible decision. Lives can change in a blink of an eye, for the injured and the person making the mistake.

On a lighter note, I have been wanting to tell you that everytime I read your blog or one of your comments, the song "Moonshadow" by Cat Stevens begins playing in my head....which brings back some fond memories from my youth.

anajz - 'blink of an eye' is right. I had just spoke with my daughter prior to her accident. As a matter of fact, my son's wife was on the phone with her when the accident happened. She heard, "OH SH*T" and the crashing sound then nothing. I'm glad she wasn't talking to me because I would have totally freaked.

In my profile I have the audio of Cat Stevens "Moonshadow". My laptop goes to a page for Quicktime when the link is clicked on, but this computer has Vista and the only option it gives me is to download it.
