Auf Wiedersehen My Friend

Carol Riffel - 23 December 2007

Earlier this month I wrote about crocheting a prayer shawl for a friend, a member of our Golden Wheat Chapter AHSGR. Today I received notice that this morning she lost her courageous battle with cancer to gain the Glory of Angels.

We will miss you Carol, you have been an energetic force at the Golden Wheat Chapter AHSGR. Your passion and dedication to the society has been a sustaining strength for us, your absence will be felt. You have been a leader, a participant, a friend. You have joyfully taken on tasks when your schedule was already full. I regret I will not get the chance to teach you to play the accordion, I think you would have enjoyed it tremendously. I ask all who read this to please take a moment and offer prayers for Carol's family for strength and comfort.

Thank you, Wendy and Anita. It's easy to do a beautiful tribute for a beautiful person. Certainly earth's loss and heaven's gain.

Thank you all for your care and concern for mom. We were on our way to church when dad called to say mom was not waking up. The wonderful thing about this Christmas is that Carol gets to spend it with Jesus, face to face. Romans 8:18 tells us "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the glory that is to be revealed." Because mom knew Jesus Christ, she not only beat cancer, but is face to face with the Lord, in all HIS glory.

God bless each of you. Carol's son, David Riffel

David - Thank you for posting this. It's comforting to know that she is at peace. It has been a pleasure working with your mom on the board of the Golden Wheat Chapter. I appreciate your family sharing her time with us. I can honestly say that in the years of working with your mother I never had a conflict with her, not one issue. And as I said in my post, I wish we would have found the time for me to teach her to play the accordion, she had expressed an interest after she learned that I played (not well, but well enough to teach someone else the basics). In my mind I could picture her polka-ing away with that big smile on her face.

Love and Prayers to your family and give your dad an extra hug for me.

(OH! I don't post my real name to my blog, but I'm the chapter corresponding secretary.)

What a beautiful, loving, and caring woman Carol Riffel was. Many will miss her terribly. I will miss her as a friend. I live in Calif. and could count on her each year to never forget my birthday. She would always write lots of words of interest telling me about what her and Ed were doing and what each of her kids and Grandkids were doing. Then came Christmas and there too she would always keep me up to date. Besides all that, I always felt love coming from her heart. Thank you Lord for bringing Carol into my life. Ed, David, Christine and Karen I send my deepest love! (Aunt) Edith

We have been praying for Carol and her family for quite some time and as we began our services Sunday December 23rd, I heard the phone ring in the back of the fellowship hall, a moment later a note was given to me, informing me that Carol Riffel had passed away. My prayers are for God's peace to reach all those hard to reach areas of grief we have. God Bless and Keep all of you. A wonderful tribut. Pastor Phil Smith

May you be surrounded by God's love,
comforted by His Grace,
blessed by His Peace,
aware of His presence,
and filled with His abundant joy.
Rev.14:13 "They will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." Carol had so many deeds that glorified the Lord in her life. She has impacted many for the Kingdom including our family.

Aunt Carol: A beautiful person, inside and out. Our family has a "hole", but will be "whole" in time. What a blessed Saviour we have to comfort us and assure us that His grace is sufficient for all. I am sure Aunt Carol and Mom are having the "time of their lives"--which will continue for eternity. :) Autumn
