K-Monster's 1st Tackle Football Game

K-Monster's first tackle football game was Thursday, September 4th. Before I get started with the pictures I'd like you to take a look at the two teams stats. This is our team. K-Monster is #31. #5 lives next door to me. Most of the boys on our team are playing tackle for the first time this year and most are barely over 100lbs. Now look at the stats for the opposition...
...the majority of their players are in their second year playing tackle and they've got few "big boys" on the team which they didn't hesitate to put in even though they were stomping us.
Here was the beginning huddle, a beautiful day for being outside at a football game...
In the lead are #31 and #5...
#31 in the middle of the pack...
...there's #31 and #5 again (why are these guys on the left just standing there?)...
...I'm not sure which one of the boys this was, but thought it was a good shot...
#5 has the ball and to the left it appears that #70 has a shoulder pad in his grip...
...#5 down...
...our cheerleaders were right in front of where we were sitting...
...and put on quite a show...
...K-Monster got hit in the hip and was down temporarily...
...but it wasn't long before he was back in the game.
I barely caught #5 running by between the down markers and cheerleaders in front of me...
...this is the only touchdown we made this game that counted. Another boy made a touchdown but it didn't count because of a foul during the play.
Here a player has a grip on #5's jersey...
...one last shot of K-Monster, #31, in action.
It was an experience building game. They didn't win but they'll go into the next game knowing more than they did in this game.

I remember those days. Ethan is more of a "fine arts" kind of kid, so we've missed out on football these last few years. But his older brothers played, so we saw many a game like this. Glad K-Monster wasn't down for long:) Matt broke his arm playing. Ahh..the memories of those years.

Big boys, indeed!

Winning is only half the fun. Just playing your best is what's important (there are days I wish I could don a helmet and shoulder pads and get out there too)!

Carolyn - K-Monster's older brother is a "computer kid" so this is our first year with a grandson in football. There's been tag football and other sports, but there's just something about tackle....

Momo - Back when my kids were this age there were a few girls that wanted to play, but they wouldn't let them. Some of the girls at that time were bigger than the boys, strong, stout, well fed, farm girls. They should've let them play.
