I Won! I Won! NOT!!!

I got the following letter and check in the mail yesterday. I knew right away that it was a scam/fraud.
But some people are fooled by this and actually attempt to cash the checks.
I went online and found the Stub Hub is an actual site, they sell sports tickets. In their notifications page they tell all about this scam. On May 27, 2007 they wrote:

StubHub recently learned about a mail fraud scheme that is illegally using
StubHub's name and logo.

The perpetrators of this scam have been distributing false sweepstakes letters claiming to be from StubHub Financial Services or Prime Financial Services. These letters include counterfeit checks bearing the StubHub name and logo.

Important: These checks are NOT genuine and StubHub did not send them.

StubHub and eBay do not conduct drawings or sweepstakes of this nature. We are working with law enforcement to identify the origin of this fraudulent activity. StubHub, Inc. is not responsible for these correspondences.

They obviously haven't been able to stop the perpetrators. I wanted to make sure an let everyone else know that this it a scam and to not fall for it.

I've had several scam checks like that, all from different places... it's really sad the number of people who fall for them!

Anita - which is why I've posted this. I'm hoping it will help inform others that these scams are out there.

Something else I just realized, most real checks, when scanned, show "void" in the special type paper that is used.

Hi! To date I haven't received any. But I do get a few emails saying I have relatives in Nigeria wanting to give me money.

Take Care,
Peter

Thanks for the heads up. Haven't seen this scam yet, I just keep getting emails from Nigeria like Peter.

Peter & Bob, those Nigerians sure get around, don't they?

Bob, you probably won't get any of these letters, they're sent from Canada. I doubt they want to do their dirty business in their own country.

NMC - the ones I worry about are people like my parents that have sent of Publisher Clearing House entries and may be fooled by these bogus winnings.
