The roofers arrived around 8am this morning and were finished up before noon. The color of the shingles is called "Golden Harvest". My daughter came by when she got off work and said that the new roof really makes the house stand out.
I really like the blended golds and browns. We had vents installed along the eve in the back. I had asked Terry about installing a solar powered vent with thermostat, but he said that these simple vents actually work just as well and without the expense. Now I've just got to get up the energy (or desire) to climb up in the attic and clean up the mess left from the wooden shingles coming off. I had covered a lot of the inside with plastic, and when I ran out of plastic I used cardboard, but that only redirected where it fell. I think I really need to haul the shop vac up there and make quick work of it. Maybe tomorrow.

hey Moonshadow! thanks for popping by. i know i've been a bad internet friend since i haven't come by in a while. i'll try to make it up to you. we our first glimpse of fall today. temperatures dipped nicely and the forecast said rain, but it never came. anyway, that's all from my side of the world. have a good rest of your weekend.
René
Glad you could visit, Rene. I hadn't made my rounds in a while, either. We have fall coming in on us here too, today is much cooler and we're suppose to be seeing rain. I'm glad they got the roof done when they did.
Hi! They look great! I'd imagine with the rain and hail, the shingles would dampen down the noise far better than tiles or sheet metal. Now that you've done this, what's next?
Take Care,
Peter
Hi, Peter! We had shingles on it before, there's just fewer layers of them now and there's also a layer of pressed board and tarpaper that wasn't there previously. Probably won't notice any difference since we hadn't had any leaks or anything with the old roof. Just needed to get it replaced before that happened. No new projects in the wings yet.
Thank You!
l love the color of autumn in your roof! About the vent, I think your husband was right in sticking with the power-assisted type. They can be as good as the solar ones in protecting your house from the build-up of excessive heat in the attic.
That’s what hiring expert roofers can bring – fast and quality service! They did the job in less than four hours, what else can you ask for? By the way, I like that "Golden Harvest" color of your shingles too! I wonder if that shingle will look good on my roof or not.
Sneaky, sneaky, Lino. Ha! Looking to drum up your own business? I just hope you're as good to YOUR customers as our roofer is to us. Since you're in Tampa and not competing with our roofer I'm just going to thank you for visiting and let your comment stay. :)
